The Red Wyvern society (The Clifford Household) seeks to re-create as many aspects of life in period 1450 - 1585 as possible. This period saw the dynastic struggle between the Houses of Lancaster and York, which was to become known as the "Wars of the Roses". The Clifford family were major Lancastrian supporter and John, 9th Lord Clifford, even earned the name of "The Butcher" for his killing of both the Duke of York and his son the Earl of Rutland at the battle of Wakefield in 1460.

1476 Städtisches Aufgebot is Germany's first "living-history" group for the 15th century (1476). It is a non profit making living history group trying to bring the late 15th c. back to life. The members portray a contingent of a German imperial city such as Frankfurt at war in 1476. The maximum period covered is 1470 - 1480.

THE MARY ROSE was built between 1509 and 1511, she was one of the first ships able to fire a broadside, and was a firm favourite of King Henry VIII. After a long and successful career, she sank accidentally during an engagement with the French fleet in 1545. Her rediscovery and raising were seminal events in the history of nautical archaeology especially for students of the medieval longbow. This link is to the Mary Rose Trust.
