Visitors to the Medieval Free Company
will be able to wander around a small encampment savouring the flavour of
what it would have really been like in the 15th century. Our tents, of
various shapes and sizes, have all been made in the styles known to have
been popular in the time. Our clothing and footwear have all been made in
traditional style and, where possible, by traditional methods.
All
food eaten within the encampment is prepared over an open fire from
foodstuffs known to have been available, not only in the 15th century, but
during the particular season as well. The smell of the cooking pot
together with the various herbs and spices used will get the taste buds
tingling (we are, unfortunately, not permitted to allow visitors to sample
the food). Our cook will be pleased to explain the ingredients and methods
used to create his culinary delights.
